यदि ह्ुकामां सेवेत स्त्रियमन्यामपि ध्रुवम् । शतधास्य फलेन्मूर्था इत्युक्त: सो5भवत् पुरा,पूर्वकालमें रावणको यह शाप दिया गया था कि यदि यह उसे न चाहनेवाली किसी परायी स्त्रीका बलपूर्वक सेवन करेगा तो इसके मस्तकके सैकड़ों टुकड़े हो जायँगे
yadi hy akāmaṃ seveta striyam anyām api dhruvam | śatadhāsyā phalen mūrdhā ity uktaḥ so 'bhavat purā ||
वरुण म्हणाले—जर तो न इच्छिणाऱ्या कोणत्याही परस्त्रीवर बलपूर्वक संग करील, तर निश्चयच त्याचे मस्तक शंभर तुकड्यांत फुटेल—असा शाप त्याला पूर्वी दिला गेला होता.
