Kṣānti–Tejas Viveka: Prahlāda’s Instruction to Bali
Draupadī’s Application
tasmād balavatā caiva durbalena ca nityadā | kṣantavyaṃ puruṣeṇāhur āpatsu api vijānatā ||
The verse teaches kṣamā—patient forbearance and forgiveness—as a universal duty: strength should not become cruelty, and weakness should not become resentment. Even during crises, the wise uphold forgiveness as the ethically superior response.
Yudhiṣṭhira is articulating a dharmic principle in the Vana Parva context, emphasizing how one should behave under pressure and misfortune: by choosing restraint and forgiveness rather than retaliation.
