Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 73 — Kr̥ṣṇa’s Appraisal of Bhīma’s Altered Temper and Reaffirmation of Martial Resolve
शमश्न नन्दिवेगानामित्येते कुलपांसना: । युगान्ते कृष्ण सम्भूता: कुले कुपुरुषाधमा:
śamaśna nandivegānām ity ete kulapāṃsanāḥ | yugānte kṛṣṇa-sambhūtāḥ kule kupuruṣādhamāḥ ||
भीम म्हणाला—नंदिवेगवंशातील शमश्न आणि त्याच्यासारखे इतर—हे आपल्या-आपल्या कुलाची राख व कलंक आहेत. युगान्ती, धर्माचा विप्लव झाला असता, जसा तेजस्वी व समृद्ध असुरांमध्ये भयंकर कलह उत्पन्न झाला होता, तसाच अंधारातूनच जणू उत्पन्न झालेले हे नीच क्षत्रिय निरनिराळ्या राजवंशांत प्रकट होतात आणि ऱ्हास व परस्पर संघर्षाचे कारण बनतात।
