Sanatsujāta-Āhvāna (Summoning Sanatsujāta) — Vidura’s Invocation and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Doubt

अश्रान्त: स्यादनादाता सम्मतो निरुपद्रव: । शिष्टो न शिष्टवत्‌ स स्याद्‌ ब्राह्माणो ब्रह्मवित्‌ कवि:,जो कर्तव्य-पालनमें कभी थकता नहीं, दान नहीं लेता, सत्पुरुषोंमें सम्मानित और उपद्रवरहित है तथा शिष्ट होकर भी शिष्टताका विज्ञापन नहीं करता, वही ब्राह्मण ब्रह्मवेत्ता एवं विद्वान्‌ है

aśrāntaḥ syād anādātā sammato nirupadravaḥ | śiṣṭo na śiṣṭavat sa syād brāhmaṇo brahmavit kaviḥ ||

जो कर्तव्यपालनात कधीही थकत नाही, दान स्वीकारत नाही, सत्पुरुषांत मान्य व उपद्रव-रहित असतो, आणि शिष्ट असूनही शिष्टतेचा दिखावा करत नाही—तोच ब्राह्मण, ब्रह्मवेत्ता व कवि (ऋषिद्रष्टा) होय.
