yathāha bharataśreṣṭha nāradas tat tathā kuru | etad dhi paramaṃ śreyo lokānāṃ bharatarṣabha ||
Bhīṣma emphasizes that following the guidance of a realized sage (Nārada) is not merely personally beneficial but constitutes the highest welfare (paramaṃ śreyaḥ) for society at large—placing public good and dharma above private preference.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war deliberations, Bhīṣma addresses a leading Bharata figure and urges him to act exactly according to Nārada’s instruction, presenting that course as the most beneficial and dharmic option for all people.
