Bhīṣma’s Dream-Counsel and the Prasvāpa Astra (भीष्मस्वप्नदर्शनम् / प्रस्वापास्त्रोपदेशः)
न त्वहं विनिवर्तिष्ये युद्धादस्मात् कथंचन । “आजसे पहले भी मैं कभी किसी युद्धसे पीछे नहीं हटा हूँ। अतः: पितामहो! आपलोग अपनी इच्छाके अनुसार पहले गंगानन्दन भीष्मको ही युद्धसे निवृत्त कीजिये। मैं किसी प्रकार पहले स्वयं ही इस युद्धसे पीछे नहीं हटूँगा”

मी या युद्धातून कोणत्याही प्रकारे माघार घेणार नाही. आजवर मी कधीही युद्धातून पाठी फिरवली नाही; म्हणून आजही मी स्वतः प्रथम मागे हटणार नाही. पितामहांना मला युद्धातून दूर करायचे असेल, तर त्यांच्या इच्छेनुसार आधी गंगानंदन भीष्मालाच युद्धातून निवृत्त करावे; मी स्वेच्छेने रणभूमी सोडणार नाही.
