भीष्मो वसूनामन्यतमो दिष्ट्या जीवसि पुत्रक । बेटा परशुराम! हम जो तुम्हारे गुरुजन--आदरणीय पितर हैं। इसलिये तुम्हें रोक रहे हैं। पुत्र! भीष्म वसुओंमेंसे एक वसु हैं। तुम अपना सौभाग्य ही समझो कि उनके साथ युद्ध करके अबतक जीवित हो

मी, भीष्म, वसूंमध्ये एक वसु आहे. पुत्रा, दैवयोगाने तू अजून जिवंत आहेस. आम्ही तुझे गुरुजन—पूज्य पितरांसमान—म्हणूनच तुला रोखत आहोत. पुत्रा, माझ्यासारख्या वसुशी युद्ध करूनही तू आतापर्यंत जिवंत आहेस, हे आपले सौभाग्य समज.
