सा भीष्मे प्रतिकर्तव्यमहं पश्यामि साम्प्रतम्‌ । तपसा वा युधा वापि दु:खहेतु: स मे मतः,“अत: इस समय तपस्या अथवा युद्धके द्वारा भीष्मसे ही बदला लेना मुझे उचित दिखायी देता है; क्योंकि मेरे दुःखके प्रधान कारण वे ही हैं

sā bhīṣme pratikartavyam ahaṃ paśyāmi sāmpratam | tapasā vā yudhā vāpi duḥkhahetuḥ sa me mataḥ ||

म्हणून या वेळी तपस्या अथवा युद्ध यांच्या द्वारे भीष्मावरच प्रतिशोध घेणे मला योग्य वाटते; कारण माझ्या दुःखाचे मुख्य कारण तेच आहेत.
