उष्णीषाणि नियच्छन्त: पुण्डरीकनिभै: करै: । अन्तरीयोत्तरीयाणि भूषणानि च सर्वश:,उन्होंने अपने कमलसदृश करोंसे मस्तकपर पगड़ी बाँध ली; फिर धोती, चादर और सब प्रकारके आभूषण धारण कर लिये
uṣṇīṣāṇi niyacchantaḥ puṇḍarīkanibhaiḥ karaiḥ | antarīyottarīyāṇi bhūṣaṇāni ca sarvaśaḥ ||
पांढऱ्या कमळासारख्या कोमल हातांनी त्यांनी मस्तकावरील उष्णीष (पगडी) घट्ट बांधली; मग अधोवस्त्र व उत्तरीय परिधान करून सर्व प्रकारच्या भूषणांनी स्वतःला पूर्णतः सुसज्ज केले।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights maryādā (propriety) and readiness: before entering serious public action, one composes oneself outwardly—through orderly dress and dignified bearing—reflecting inner discipline and respect for the occasion.
A group (implied by the plural verbs) is shown preparing formally: they secure their turbans, don lower and upper garments, and wear ornaments, indicating a transition into an official or consequential public setting within the Udyoga Parva’s atmosphere of impending action.
