निदर्शनान्युपायांश्व बहुन्युद्धर्षणानि च । अनुदर्शितरूपोडसि पश्यामि कुरु पौरुषम्,बेटा! मैंने तुझे अनेक प्रकारके दृष्टान्त, बहुत-से उपाय और कितने ही उत्साहजनक वचन सुनाये हैं। लोकवृत्तान्तका भी बारंबार दिग्दर्शन कराया है। अब तू पुरुषार्थ कर। मैं तेरा पराक्रम देखूँगी
nidārśanāny upāyāṁś ca bahūny uddharṣaṇāni ca | anudarśita-rūpo ’si paśyāmi kuru pauruṣam ||
बाळा! मी तुला अनेक प्रकारचे दृष्टांत, बरेच उपाय आणि उत्साह जागवणारी कितीतरी वचने सांगितली आहेत. लोकव्यवहाराचाही मी वारंवार मार्ग दाखवला आहे. आता तू पुरुषार्थ कर—मी तुझे पराक्रम पाहीन.
