Nahuṣa Abhiṣeka and the Crisis of Restraint (नहुषाभिषेकः—दमभ्रंशः)

देवदानवयक्षाणामृषीणां रक्षसां तथा । पितृगन्धर्वभूतानां चक्षुविषयवर्तिनाम्‌,“देवता, दानव, यक्ष, ऋषि, राक्षस, पितर, गन्धर्व और भूत--जो भी आपके नेत्रोंके सामने आ जायूँगे, उन्हें देखते ही आप उनका तेज हर लेंगे और बलवान हो जायूँगे। अतः सदा धर्मको सामने रखते हुए आप सम्पूर्ण लोकोंके अधिपति होइये

devadānavayakṣāṇām ṛṣīṇāṁ rakṣasāṁ tathā | pitṛgandharvabhūtānāṁ cakṣuviṣayavartinām ||

शल्य म्हणाला—देव, दानव, यक्ष, ऋषी, राक्षस, पितर, गंधर्व आणि भूत—जे कोणी तुझ्या दृष्टीच्या कक्षेत येतील, त्यांना पाहताक्षणीच तू त्यांचे तेज हिरावून घेशील आणि बलवान होशील. म्हणून सदैव धर्माला अग्रस्थानी ठेवून तू सर्व लोकांचा अधिपती हो।

Śalya is offering counsel and encouragement, describing a formidable, almost cosmic potency—gaining strength by absorbing the radiance of any being within one’s sight—and then urging the addressee to rule the worlds with dharma as the guiding principle.
