अतः: पर प्रवक्ष्यामि यानि देयानि भारते । वाच्यमाने तु विप्रेभ्यो राजन् पर्वणि पर्वणि
ataḥ paraṁ pravakṣyāmi yāni deyāni bhārate | vācyamāne tu viprebhyo rājan parvaṇi parvaṇi ||
वैशंपायन म्हणाले—“आता पुढे ‘भारत’ (महाभारत) मध्ये कोणकोणती दाने द्यावीत ते मी सांगतो. राजन्, ब्राह्मणांसाठी कथा वाचली जात असताना, प्रत्येक पर्वात योग्य दान अर्पण करावे.”
