अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
कथावाचन फार थांबथांबूनही करू नये आणि फार घाईनेही करू नये. ते सहज, धीर व ओजस्वी गतीने असावे; अक्षरे व पदे एकमेकांत गुंतू नयेत, उच्चार स्पष्ट असावा आणि स्वर व भाव यांचा योग्य मेळ असावा— तेव्हाच अर्थ मधुरपणे उलगडतो.
