etat te sarvam ākhyātaṃ vaiśampāyana-kīrtitam | vyāsājñayā samajñātaṃ sarpasatre nṛpasya hi ||

Translation

हे सर्व मी तुम्हांला पूर्णपणे सांगितले—राजा जनमेजयाच्या सर्पसत्रात व्यासांच्या आज्ञेने मुनिवर वैशंपायनांनी जो इतिहासनिवेद केला होता. ऐकून व परंपरेने प्राप्त झालेली ती संपूर्ण इतिहासपरंपरा आता मी तुमच्या समोर कथन केली आहे.
