कूटशाल्मलिकं चापि दुःस्पर्श तीक्ष्णकण्टकम्‌ । ददर्श चापि कौन्तेयो यातना: पापकर्मिणाम्‌

Transliteration

kūṭaśālmalikaṃ cāpi duḥsparśa-tīkṣṇa-kaṇṭakam | dadarśa cāpi kaunteyo yātanāḥ pāpa-karmiṇām ||

Translation

वैशंपायन म्हणाले—कौन्तेयाने कूट-शाल्मली वृक्षही पाहिले, जे स्पर्शास कठीण व तीक्ष्ण काट्यांनी भरलेले होते; आणि तेथे पापकर्म करणाऱ्यांना दिल्या जाणाऱ्या कठोर यातनाही त्याने पाहिल्या.
