Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
हसन्ति च मनुष्याणां स्वरवर्णमनांस्युत । व्याधयश्व भवन्त्यत्र प्रियन्ते च गतायुष:,मनुष्योंके स्वर, वर्ण और मन मलिन हो जाते हैं। सबको रोग-व्याधि सताने लगती है और लोग अल्पायु होकर छोटी अवस्थामें ही मरने लगते हैं
hasanti ca manuṣyāṇāṃ svaravarṇamanāṃsy uta | vyādhayaś ca bhavanty atra priyante ca gatāyuṣaḥ ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—अशा स्थितीत मनुष्यांचा स्वर, वर्ण आणि मन मलिन व विकृत होतात. येथे रोग-व्याधी उत्पन्न होऊन सर्वांना छळतात; आयुष्य कमी झाल्याने लोक अल्पवयातच मृत्युमुखी पडतात।
