अज्ञातं कार्तवीर्येण हैहयेन्द्रेण धीमता । तन्निमित्तमभूद् युद्ध जामदग्नेर्महात्मन:,उस बछड़ेके लाये जानेकी बात बुद्धिमान् हैहय-राज कार्तवीर्यको मालूम नहीं थी, तथापि उसीके लिये महात्मा परशुरामका उसके साथ घोर युद्ध छिड़ गया
ajñātaṁ kārtavīryeṇa haihayendreṇa dhīmatā | tannimittam abhūd yuddhaṁ jāmadagner mahātmanaḥ ||
वासुदेव म्हणाले—बुद्धिमान हैहय-राज कार्तवीर्याला त्या वासरू आणल्याची गोष्ट माहीत नव्हती; तरीही त्याच कारणामुळे महात्मा जामदग्न्य (परशुराम) याच्याशी त्याचे घोर युद्ध पेटले.
