भवन्तं स्वजनादस्मि सम्प्राप्तं श्रुववानहम् । अतत्त्वां स्वयमेवाहं द्रष्टम भ्यागतो द्विज
bhavantaṃ svajanād asmi samprāptaṃ śrutavān aham | atattvāṃ svayam evāhaṃ draṣṭum abhyāgato dvija brahman ||
नाग म्हणाला—माझ्या स्वजनीकडून (पत्नीपासून) तुमच्या येथे आगमनाची वार्ता मी ऐकली. म्हणून, हे द्विज! हे ब्राह्मण! मी स्वतःच तुमचे दर्शन घेण्यासाठी आलो आहे.
नाग उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: honoring a guest—especially a learned Brahmin—through prompt personal reception, respectful address, and the intention to offer audience and hospitality.
A Nāga reports that he learned of the Brahmin’s arrival from a family member and therefore comes in person to meet and see him, formally greeting him as ‘dvija’ and ‘brahman.’
