The Brahmin’s Vow and the Nāgas’ Hospitality Appeal
tasmād eva samuddhūtaṃ tejo rūpa-guṇātmakam | yena saṃyujyate sūryas tato loke virājate ||
The verse emphasizes causality in cosmology: the Sun’s visible splendor is not independent but arises through union with a prior, form-and-quality-bearing radiance (tejas). It points to an underlying source that empowers even the great luminaries.
Nārada explains to his listener the origin of the Sun’s brilliance: a specific tejas manifests from an antecedent principle, and by joining with it the Sun becomes radiant and illumines the world.
