Educational Q&A

The verse frames Brahmā as the cosmic progenitor and universal teacher, implying that rightful authority and beneficence (granting boons) flow from alignment with cosmic order and reverence for the source of creation—treated as one’s own parents and ancestors.

Vaiśampāyana identifies a divine figure as Brahmā—creator and lord—and indicates that, under an authoritative injunction (“by my command”), this deity will bestow boons upon beings, marking a moment of divine sanction and benefaction within the Śānti Parva discourse.
