Agni–Soma Origin and the Brahmāgnīṣomīya Doctrine
tatra devagaṇāḥ sādhya mahābhūtā mahābalāḥ | teṣām apy abhavat putraḥ samāno nāma durjayaḥ ||
The verse situates human discourse within a wider cosmic order: even subtle divine classes (the Sādhyas) have lineages and distinguished figures. It underscores that power and eminence exist across many planes of being, not only among humans.
Bhīṣma continues a cosmological-genealogical description, identifying a class of deities called the Sādhyas and naming their notable son Samāna, characterized as ‘Durjaya’—difficult to conquer.
