Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

स वेदे मोक्षशास्त्रे च स्वे च शास्त्रे कृतश्रम: । इन्द्रियाणि समाधाय शशास वसुधामिमाम्‌,उन्होंने वेदमें, मोक्षशास्त्रमें तथा अपने शास्त्र (दण्डनीति)-में भी बड़ा परिश्रम किया था। वे इन्द्रियोंको एकाग्र करके इस वसुन्धराका शासन करते थे

sa vede mokṣaśāstre ca sve ca śāstre kṛtaśramaḥ | indriyāṇi samādhāya śaśāsa vasudhām imām ||

भीष्म म्हणाले— त्यांनी वेद, मोक्षशास्त्र आणि आपल्या शास्त्रात (दंडनीतीत) मोठा परिश्रम केला होता। इंद्रिये संयमित करून, मन स्थिर ठेवून ते या पृथ्वीचे शासन करीत होते।
