Adhyātma–Adhibhūta–Adhidaivata Correspondences and the Triguṇa Lakṣaṇas (Śānti-parva 301)
वेदवादांस्तथा चित्रानृतूनां पर्ययांस्तथा । क्षयं संवत्सराणां च मासानां च क्षयं तथा,वेदोंके भाँति-भाँतिके विचित्र वचन, ऋतुओंके परिवर्तन तथा दिन, पक्ष, मास और संवत्सर आदि काल जो प्रतिक्षण बीत रहा है, उसकी ओर भी ध्यान दे। चन्द्रमाकी हासवृद्धि तो प्रत्यक्ष दिखायी देती है। समुद्रोंका ज्वारभाटा भी प्रत्यक्ष ही है। धनवानोंके धनका नाश और नाशके बाद पुनः वृद्धिका क्रम भी दृष्टिगोचर होता ही रहता है। इन सबको देखकर अपने कर्तव्यका निश्चय करे

वेदांतील नानाविध अद्भुत वचने, ऋतूंचे परिवर्तन, तसेच वर्षे व महिने यांसह काळाचा अखंड क्षय—यावरही चिंतन करावे. सर्व गोष्टींचा बदल व ह्रास पाहून मनुष्याने स्थैर्य व स्पष्टतेने आपले कर्तव्य निश्चित करावे.
