Śānti-parva Adhyāya 30: Nārada–Parvata Samaya-bhaṅga, Śāpa, and the Marriage of Sukumārī
kṛtāñjalim upāsīnaṃ dīnaṃ dīnataras svayam |
The verse highlights humility as a dharmic virtue: even one who speaks with authority should approach others with reverence and self-effacement, especially in morally serious dialogue.
Kṛṣṇa describes seeing a person seated or waiting with folded hands in a distressed, humble posture; moved by that, he himself becomes even more humble and then speaks—setting a respectful tone for what follows.
