Śoka-śamana: Kṛṣṇa’s Consolation and Nārada’s Exempla to Sṛñjaya
Chapter 29
yasmai vahnivaraḥ prādāt tato vavre varān gayaḥ | dadato yo 'kṣayaṁ vittaṁ dharme śraddhā ca vardhatām ||
True boons are ethical: one should seek inexhaustible capacity to give for dharma and a steadily growing śraddhā (faith/commitment) in righteousness, rather than merely personal enjoyment.
Vāyu recounts that after Agni grants a boon, Gaya responds by choosing boons aligned with charity and dharma—asking that his righteous gifts never run out and that his devotion to dharma continually increase.
