परमात्माकी प्रेरणासे काल इन पाँच तत्त्वोंद्वारा समस्त प्राणियोंकी सृष्टि करता है। जो इनसे भिन्न किसी अन्य तत्त्वको प्राणियोंके शरीरोंका उपादान कारण बताता है, वह निस्संदेह झूठी बात कहता है ।। विद्धि नारद पज्चैतान् शाश्वतानचलान ध्रुवान् महतस्तेजसो राशीन् कालषष्ठान् स्वभावत:
viddhi nārada pañcaitān śāśvatān acalān dhruvān | mahatas tejaso rāśīn kāla-ṣaṣṭhān svabhāvataḥ ||
असित म्हणाले—हे नारद! या पाचांना शाश्वत, अचल व ध्रुव असे जाण; हे महान तेजाचे पुंज आहेत. स्वभावतः काळाला सहावा मानल्यास हे षड्विध तत्त्व ठरतात. परमात्म्याच्या प्रेरणेने काळ यांच्याद्वारेच सर्व प्राण्यांची सृष्टी करतो; जो यांखेरीज दुसऱ्या द्रव्याला देहधाऱ्यांचे उपादान कारण म्हणतो, तो निःसंशय असत्य बोलतो।
