तत्त्वं वदस्व मे ब्रह्मुन्नुपसन्नो 5स्म्यधीहि भो: । यथा ते विदितो मोक्षस्तथेच्छाम्युपशिक्षितुम्‌,ब्रह्म! आप मुझे तत्त्वकी बात बताइये। मैं शिष्यभावसे आपकी शरणमें आया हूँ। गुरुदेव! मुझे उपदेश कीजिये। आपको मोक्षके स्वरूपका जैसा ज्ञान है, वैसा ही मैं भी सीखना और जानना चाहता हूँ

tattvaṃ vadasva me brahmann upasanno 'smy adhīhi bhoḥ | yathā te vidito mokṣas tathecchāmy upaśikṣitum, brahman ||

कपिल म्हणाले—हे ब्रह्मन्, मला तत्त्व सांगा. मी शिष्यभावाने तुमच्या शरण आलो आहे; मला उपदेश करा. तुम्हाला मोक्षाचे जसे ज्ञान आहे, तसेच मला शिकायचे आहे.
