शद्राश्न ब्राह्मणीं भार्यामुपयास्यन्ति निर्भया: । वियोनिषु विमोक्ष्यन्ति बीजानि पुरुषा यदा
śūdrāś ca brāhmaṇīṁ bhāryām upayāsyanti nirbhayāḥ | viyoniṣu vimokṣyanti bījāni puruṣā yadā ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—जेव्हा शूद्रवर्णातील पुरुष निर्भय होऊन ब्राह्मण स्त्रीला पत्नी म्हणून स्वीकारू लागतील, तेव्हा ते अनुचित योनिंमध्ये आपले बीज सोडतील. ही मर्यादा-भंगाची, धर्मव्यवस्थेतील गोंधळाची निशाणी आहे.
