न तृप्ति: प्रियलाभे<स्ति तृष्णा नाद्धि: प्रशाम्यति । सम्प्रज्वलति सा भूय: समिद्धिरिव पावक:
na tṛptiḥ priyalābhe 'sti tṛṣṇā nāddhiḥ praśāmyati | samprajvalati sā bhūyaḥ samiddhir iva pāvakaḥ ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—प्रिय वस्तू मिळाल्या तरी मनुष्य तृप्त होत नाही; प्राप्तीने तृष्णा शमत नाही. इंधन मिळाल्यावर जशी अग्नी अधिक भडकते, तशी ती तृष्णा पुन्हा पुन्हा अधिक प्रज्वलित होते.
