“सदा ही याचना करनेवालेको और दम्भीको दी हुई दक्षिणा दावानलमें दी गयी आहुतिके समान व्यर्थ है ।।
jātavedā yathā rājan nādagdhvaivopaśāmyati | sadaiva yācamāno hi tathā śāmyati na dvijaḥ ||
राजन्! जशी अग्नी इंधन जाळल्यावाचून शांत होत नाही, तशीच जो ब्राह्मण सदैव याचना करीत राहतो, तो ती याचनावृत्ती सोडल्याशिवाय अंतःशांती प्राप्त करीत नाही. आणि जो दक्षिणा सतत मागणाऱ्या व दांभिकाला दिली जाते, ती दावानलात टाकलेल्या आहुतीसारखी व्यर्थ व निष्फळ ठरते.
