निशम्य दानवा: सर्वे हृष्टा: समभिदुद्रुवु: । भयानक कर्म करनेकी इच्छासे वैसा ही रूप धारण करनेवाले रुद्रदेवको देखकर समस्त दानव हर्ष और उत्साहमें भरकर उनके ऊपर टूट पड़े
niśamya dānavāḥ sarve hṛṣṭāḥ samabhidudruvuḥ | bhayānaka-karma-karaṇecchayā tathaiva rūpaṃ dhārayantaṃ rudradevaṃ dṛṣṭvā samastā dānavā harṣotsāhena pūritāḥ tasyaivopari prapetuḥ |
भीष्म म्हणाले— हे ऐकून सर्व दानव आनंदित होऊन एकत्र धावून आले. भयानक कर्म करण्याच्या इच्छेने तसाच रूप धारण केलेल्या रुद्राला पाहून ते हर्ष व उत्साहाने भरून रणांगणात त्याच्यावर तुटून पडले।
