गदायुद्धप्रतिज्ञा — The Vow and Terms of the Mace Duel
मां तु निर्जित्य संग्रामे पालयेमां वसुन्धराम् । सूच्यग्रेणापि यद् भूमेरपि भिद्येत भारत,मुझे संग्राममें जीतकर इस पृथ्वीका पालन करो। भारत! पहले तो तुम सूईकी नोकसे जितना छिद सके, भूमिका उतना-सा भाग भी मुझे नहीं दे रहे थे। प्रजानाथ! फिर आज यह सारी पृथ्वी कैसे दे रहे हो?

युधिष्ठिर म्हणाला—“संग्रामात मला जिंकून ही वसुंधरा पाळ. हे भारत! पूर्वी तर सुईच्या टोकाने जितकी भूमी भेदता येईल तितकाही भाग तू मला देत नव्हतास; आणि आज, हे प्रजानाथ, तू सारी पृथ्वी कशी देऊ पाहतोस?”
