Unrestrained Battle Description and Śakuni’s Rear Assault
yodhayan śuśubhe rājan baliṁ śakra ivāhave |
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma as valor expressed through steadfast engagement in battle, while also using epic simile to frame human warfare within a cosmic pattern—heroes are measured against divine exemplars, emphasizing responsibility, courage, and reputation earned through conduct in conflict.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Sātyaki, while fighting Kṛtavarmā, appeared radiant and formidable on the battlefield, compared to Indra battling the Daitya king Bali—an image meant to convey Sātyaki’s dominance and splendor amid intense combat.
