Duryodhana’s Final Condition, Lamentation, and the Night’s Report
sabhṛtyānāṁ naravyāghra ratnavanti gṛhāṇi ca |
The verse highlights the linkage between a ruler’s valor and the material well-being of dependents and allies, while implicitly raising an ethical reflection: prosperity secured by force carries responsibility and can be morally fraught in a war-torn context.
Sañjaya addresses a great warrior/king, crediting him with having provided (through his power) treasure-filled residences and attendant-supported security for Kṛpa, for Sañjaya himself, and for Sañjaya’s father—framing past benefits received under that leader’s protection.
