तब सम्पूर्ण धर्मोंके ज्ञाता विदुरजीने अपनी दोनों भुजाएँ ऊपर उठाकर सभासदोंको चुप कराया और इस प्रकार कहा ।। विदुर उवाच द्रौपदी प्रश्नमुक्त्वैवं रोरवीति हनाथवत्‌ । नच विश्रूत त॑ प्रश्न॑ सभ्या धर्मोत्र पीड्यते

vidura uvāca | draupadī praśnam uktvaivaṁ roravīti ha nāthavat | na ca viśruta taṁ praśnaṁ sabhyā dharmo 'tra pīḍyate ||

विदुर म्हणाले—द्रौपदीने प्रश्न मांडून अशी अनाथेसारखी आर्त हाक मारली आहे; पण सभेत तो प्रश्न नीट ऐकला गेला नाही. आणि याच सभेत धर्म पीडला जात आहे।
