ततोअमर्षी बलवान् क्रोधदीप्तो भीमोडब्रवीदर्जुनं सत्यसंधम् । परंतु जैसे मेघ जलकी धारा गिराता है, उसी प्रकार बाणोंकी बौछारसे कर्ण उस अस्त्रको नष्ट करके बड़ी शोभा पाने लगा। रणभूमिमें किरीटधारी अर्जुनके उस अस्त्रको कर्णद्वारा नष्ट हुआ देख अमर्षशील बलवान् भीमसेन पुन: क्रोधसे जल उठे और सत्यप्रतिज्ञ अर्जुनसे इस प्रकार बोले--
tato 'marṣī balavān krodha-dīpto bhīmo 'bravīd arjunaṁ satya-saṁdham | parantu yathā meghaḥ jala-dhārāṁ nipātayati tathā bāṇa-bauṣāreṇa karṇas tad astram apahṛtya (nāśayitvā) mahā-śobhāṁ lebhe | raṇa-bhūmau kirīṭa-dhāriṇaḥ arjunasya tad astram karṇena nāśitaṁ dṛṣṭvā 'marṣa-śīlo balavān bhīmasenaḥ punaḥ krodhena jajvāla, satya-pratijñaṁ arjunam evaṁ uvāca ||
संजय म्हणाला— तेव्हा अमर्षशील, बलवान आणि क्रोधाने दीप्त झालेला भीम सत्यसंध अर्जुनाला म्हणाला. जसा मेघ जलधारा बरसवितो, तसा कर्णाने बाणांच्या वर्षावाने ते अस्त्र नष्ट करून मोठी शोभा मिळविली. रणभूमीत किरीटधारी अर्जुनाचे ते अस्त्र कर्णाने निष्फळ केलेले पाहून, बलवान भीमसेन पुन्हा क्रोधाने पेटला आणि सत्यप्रतिज्ञ अर्जुनाला असे बोलला.
