Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how war is sustained not only by courage but by deliberate preparation, wealth, and display of power. Ethically, it invites reflection on the contrast between splendid equipment and the grim purpose it serves—magnificence harnessed to violence.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the war-elephants are arrayed and ready—equipped with golden-colored trappings, gold ornaments, and properly prepared armor—standing in formation as part of the battlefield deployment.
