Prelude to Karṇa’s Slaying
घोरमायोधन जज्ञे प्रेतताजपुरोपमम् । जो उनमें प्रवेश करते, उन्हें वे डुबो देती थीं और क्षत्रियोंके मनमें भय उत्पन्न करती थीं। नरव्याप्र! वहाँ गरजते हुए मांसभक्षी जन्तुओंके शब्दसे वह युद्धस्थल प्रेतराजकी नगरीके समान भयानक जान पड़ता था
sañjaya uvāca | ghoram āyodhanaṃ jajñe pretarāja-puro'upamam |
संजय म्हणाला—भयंकर रणभूमी निर्माण झाली; ती जणू प्रेतराजाची नगरीच होती। जे त्यात प्रवेश करत, त्यांना ती जणू गिळून टाकीत आणि क्षत्रियांच्या मनात भय उत्पन्न करी। नरव्याघ्र! तेथे गर्जणाऱ्या मांसभक्षी जन्तूंच्या आवाजाने ते युद्धस्थळ यमराजाच्या पुरीसारखेच भयानक भासत होते।
