कर्णेन युधिष्ठिरानीकविदारणम् / Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line
दास्यामि ते तदास्त्राणि यदा पूतो भविष्यसि । अपात्रमसमर्थ च दहन्त्यस्त्राणि भार्गव
dāsyāmi te tadāstrāṇi yadā pūto bhaviṣyasi | apātram asamarthaṃ ca dahanty astrāṇi bhārgava ||
तू जेव्हा पवित्र होशील, तेव्हा मी तुला ती अस्त्रे देईन, हे भार्गवा. ही अस्त्रे अपात्र व असमर्थ पुरुषाला जाळून भस्म करतात.
महेश्वर उवाच
Powerful knowledge and weapons require moral and practical fitness. Without purification and competence, such forces become self-destructive—harming the unworthy bearer rather than serving dharma.
Maheśvara (Śiva) sets a condition for granting divine astras: the recipient must first become purified. He warns that astras themselves ‘burn’ those who are unfit or incapable, emphasizing the danger of unqualified access to extraordinary power.
