मग गाडेय वेगाने सेनापती श्वेतावर धावून गेला. भरतश्रेष्ठ, भीमसेन आदी महारथींनी वेढलेल्या श्वेताला पाहताच गंगानंदन पितामह भीष्मानेही तत्क्षणी त्याच्यावर हल्ला चढविला.
