kṣaye tasmin mahāraudre nirviśeṣam ajāyata | tataḥ śalyaḥ kṛpaś caiva citrasenaś ca bhārata ||
त्या महा-रौद्र संहारात कोणताही विशेष भेद उरला नाही. मग, हे भारत! शल्य, कृप आणि चित्रसेन पुढे सरसावले.

The verse underscores how, in extreme violence, ordinary markers of status and distinction collapse; the ethical weight lies in recognizing war’s indiscriminate devastation even while warriors continue to act under kṣatriya-duty.
Sanjaya reports that the battle has become so fierce that no one stands out distinctly; immediately after, he names key Kaurava fighters—Śalya, Kṛpa, and Citrasena—moving forward to intensify the engagement.
