न चैनं॑ वारयामासुर्व्यात्ताननममिवान्तकम्‌,वे मुँह फैलाये हुए कालके समान भीष्मको रोक न सके। दसवाँ दिन आनेपर भीष्म जैसे दावाग्नि वनको जला देती है, उसी प्रकार शिखण्डीकी रथसेनाको तीखे बाणोंकी आगमें भस्म करने लगे

संजय म्हणाला—तोंड वासून उभ्या असलेल्या काळासारख्या भीष्माला ते आवरू शकले नाहीत। दहावा दिवस येताच भीष्माने शिखंडीच्या रथसेनेला तीक्ष्ण बाणांच्या ज्वाळांनी भस्म करायला सुरुवात केली—जशी दावाग्नी वन जाळून टाकते।
