Abhimanyu’s Śrāddha; Vyāsa’s Assurance of the Unborn Heir
abhimanyo kuśalino mātulās te mahārathāḥ | kuśalaṃ cābruvan sarve tvāṃ yuyutsum ihāgatam ||
Even amid martial intent, dharmic conduct preserves social order: warriors first exchange kuśala-praśna (inquiry after welfare), affirming kinship and responsibility before conflict.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Abhimanyu’s maternal uncles—renowned fighters—have arrived, eager for battle, and collectively ask Abhimanyu about his well-being while stating that they themselves are safe.
