न चापिबत् स सक्रोध: क्षुभितेनान्तरात्मना । स तथा निश्चयात् तेन प्रत्याख्यातो महात्मना
na cāpibat sa sakrodhaḥ kṣubhitena antarātmanā | sa tathā niścayāt tena pratyākhyāto mahātmanā ||
उत्तंकाने ते पाणी प्याले नाही. तो क्रोधाने प्रज्वलित झाला होता आणि अंतःकरणात मोठी खळबळ माजली होती; तरीही आपल्या निश्चयावर अढळ राहून त्या महात्म्याने ठाम उत्तर देत त्याला नाकारले.
उत्तडुक उवाच
Even when anger and inner agitation arise, one should not act impulsively; ethical strength is shown by holding firmly to a considered resolve and refusing what one judges improper.
The speaker describes a moment where the person addressed does not drink the offered water; though enraged and inwardly disturbed, the great-souled figure remains unwavering and rejects the other party with a firm reply.
