Vidura’s Message to Dhṛtarāṣṭra: Authorization for Dāna and Public Welfare (विदुरवाक्यम्—दानानुज्ञा)
vaiśampāyana uvāca — iti te tasya tac chrutvā devarṣer madhuraṃ vacaḥ | sarve sumanasaḥ prītā babhūvuḥ sa ca pārthivaḥ ||
The verse highlights the ethical power of gentle, truthful counsel from a realized sage: well-spoken words can calm grief, restore clarity, and turn minds toward harmony, even in a royal household burdened by past conflict.
After the divine seer speaks, everyone present listens and is uplifted; their hearts become cheerful, and King Dhṛtarāṣṭra in particular experiences strong joy and relief upon hearing the seer’s pleasing words.
