वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse praises a model of life rooted in jñāna (spiritual knowledge): those established in wisdom are described as nirāmaya—free from the disturbances of illness, grief, and inner turmoil—suggesting that true well-being is tied to disciplined insight rather than external power.
Vasiṣṭha is listing a set of eight sages/figures by name, identifying the last four (Ghora, Virūpa, Saṃvarta, Sudhanvā) and characterizing the entire group as born in Agni’s line and devoted to knowledge, thereby situating them within a revered genealogical and ethical framework.
