Go-dāna-stuti and Ghṛta-Japa
Praise of cow-gift and ghee-centered recitation
देवव्रती स्याद् वृषभप्रदाने वेदावाप्तिगोयुगस्य प्रदाने । तथा गवां विधिमासाद्य यज्वा लोकानग्रयान् विन्दते नाविधिज्ञ:
bhīṣma uvāca | devavratī syād vṛṣabhapradāne vedāvāptigoyugasya pradāne | tathā gavāṁ vidhim āsādya yajvā lokān agrayān vindate nāvidhijñaḥ ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—वृषभाचे दान केल्याने मनुष्य देवव्रती होतो. गाय-बैलाची जोडी दान केल्याने त्याला वेदप्राप्ती होते. आणि जो विधिपूर्वक गोदान-यज्ञ करतो तो श्रेष्ठ लोकांना प्राप्त होतो; परंतु ज्याला विधीचे ज्ञान नाही त्याला उत्तम फल मिळत नाही.
