Merit and Destinations from the Gift of Cows
ऋषीणां सर्वलोकेषु यानि ते यान्ति देवता: । दमेन यानि नृपते गच्छन्ति परमर्षय:
ṛṣīṇāṃ sarvalokeṣu yāni te yānti devatāḥ | damena yāni nṛpate gacchanti paramarṣayaḥ ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—हे राजन्, सर्व लोकांत देवता ज्या दिव्य पदांना पोहोचतात, त्याच पदांना परमर्षी दमाने (इंद्रियसंयमाने) प्राप्त करतात. म्हणून इंद्रियनिग्रह व शिस्तबद्ध आचरण हे परमगतीचे प्रत्यक्ष साधन मानले आहे.
