Karma-Phala Rahasya and the Ethics of Dāna (कर्मफल-रहस्यं दानधर्मश्च)
अचोटद्यमानानि यथा पुष्पाणि च फलानि च । स्वकाल नातिवर्तन्ते तथा कर्म पुरा कृतम्
acoṭadyamānāni yathā puṣpāṇi ca phalāni ca | svakālaṃ nātivartante tathā karma purā kṛtam ||
भीष्म म्हणाले— जशी फुले व फळे कोणाच्या प्रवृत्तीशिवायही आपल्या नियत काळाचा अतिक्रम करत नाहीत, योग्य वेळी फुलतात व पिकतात; तसाच पूर्वी केलेला कर्मही आपल्या वेळेस फल देतोच.
