Daiva–Puruṣakāra Inquiry: Fate and Human Effort
न दैवतानि लोके5स्मिन् व्यापारं यान्ति कस्यचित् । व्यासडूं जनयन्त्युग्रमात्माभिभवशड्कया
na daivatāni loke 'smin vyāpāraṃ yānti kasyacit | vyāsaduṃ janayanty ugraṃ ātmābhibhavaśaṅkayā ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—या लोकात देवता कोणाच्याही व्यवहारात प्रत्यक्ष हस्तक्षेप करीत नाहीत. परंतु एखादा परम पुण्यात्मा पुरुष आपल्याला मागे टाकील या भीतीने ते त्याच्या अंतःकरणात उग्र आसक्ती उत्पन्न करतात; त्यामुळे त्याच्या धर्माचरणात विघ्ने उभी राहतात.
